Calendar (Gancio)

  • Discuss design for collections | places
    • Proposal to have places be to the right (on desktop) or below (mobile) and have collections not be tied to place
  • Update social share image.
  • Limit tags to specific users
    • Maybe this can be done with the custom javascript functionality?
    • Or a custom plugin using the even create hook.
  • Embed into OrcasHub, replacing current events section.
  • Importers for other community calendars
    • Consider using n8n for custom integrations.
  • Design for how to use tags / collections (in progress - John)
  • Overview of all calendars on the island and put on Wiki

Discourse (Groups)

  • Allow logged-out users to see the groups, but display banner prompting to log in
    • There are a few groups that would be beneficial to make public, for example we could move the FAQ there.
    • This would play nicely with events being mirrored here.
    • Most groups will require logging in to view.
  • Create a “Tech” group for us to start using.
  • Setup event syncing with Gancio. (in progress - Tony)
      • For some reason this plugin is not working in my Discourse instance. Plugin author has not been very helpful.
    • If that plugin doesn't work, we could pull them in with the RSS plugin
      • No customization options with that plugin. Just the description and a link to the post.
      • Posts are created unlisted.
      • Does not provide syncing, just displaying events on a calendar.
    • Custom plugin or integration.
  • Setup ActivityPub plugin.
    • Have John experiment with subscribing and publishing.
  • Setup a focus group to give us feedback on using Discourse in place of Facebook.
  • Start talking with small groups about migrating.
    • Home Food Growers
      • Annette Bader and possibly OCPA (waiting on email response)
    • Garden club, and organizations of this scale.
    • Community clubs.
    • Eventually, Rant & Rave.

Wiki

These tasks need to be done before inviting others to start using this wiki:

  • Plugins
    • Consider adding blog plugin?
      • Ask John what he was looking for with Ghost.
  • Add a code of conduct.
  • Start building out scaffolding of sections and pages.
  • Invite friends and those that have expressed interest in the project to help fill out info.
    • The Orcas Food Co-op board is very excited. Put together a work party with them?

Ecosystem

  • ActivityPub
    • Look into how the different services can be unified into an single domain.
    • See ActivityPub for more details.
  • Move to a server outside of Tony's house.
    • Maybe Rock Island would be willing to donate server space?

Governance

  • Create a one-pager overview of “what we're doing and where we're at”
  • “Hit by a bus” plan
  • Community Oversight / Governance committee
  • Code of conduct
  • Mission / Vision / Values articulation and agreement
  • Roles, responsibilities and decision making framework
  • Funding and grants
    • Currently have the donate button on the main site only.
    • Could move donations into Discourse and use the official plugin if we want to reduce custom code.
